Perched on a hill, Fiesole is a respite from the madding crowd of Florence that can get alarming in summers.
A typical small Italian town, Fiesole has everything from quaint alleys, beautiful piazza, to museums and ruins. But most importantly, it has a certain peace and quietude for which it is known and many seem to come here for it.
It was a hot sultry day when I visited Fiesole, the town’s main piazza- Piazza Mino, was empty except for the owners of the Gelateria Tecano and several other ristorante and trattorias. I wandered aimlessly around the piazza- clicking pictures, sitting on a bench, checking a handful tourists clicking selfies and eating gelato 😉
